Health Practitioner Reporting under section 373 of the Arms Act 2026 (the Act).
The Act requires Health Practitioners to consider notifying Police of health concerns related to their patient's firearms access.
A health practitioner is not liable to criminal, civil, or disciplinary proceedings by disclosing personal information in the course of performing any function or responsibility under section 373 of the Act, as long as the practitioner acts in good faith.
More information for health practitioners is available on the Firearms Safety and Education New Zealand website.
